The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, during its plenary on Thursday condoled with the family of Prof. Chinua Achebe as well as the Anambra State House of Assembly over the death of the literal icon, who was buried in Ogidi, Anambra State.
The members, who paid glowing tribute to the late writer, said Achebe had contributed to shaping and reshaping of Nigeria.
The lawmakers said, "The late professor had contributed immensely to the development of Nigeria and it is with pains we miss him."
The member representing Mpkat Enin State Constituency, Mr. Ekong Sampson, described late Achebe as one of those who contributed to the shaping of Nigeria's image. He noted that Achebe's achievements were worthy of emulation.
Other members, who eulogised the late icon, included members representing Nsit Ubium and Uyo state constituencies, Mr. Onofiok Luke and Mr. Edwin Joseph, respectively.
