(http://fmi.gov.ng/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Mallam-Bolaji-Abdullahi-300x224.jpg) Nigeria and Cuba have expressed readiness to further strengthen the existing cordial relationship in the areas of Sports co-operation that has existed between both Countries over the years.
While speaking during the signing of a treaty on sports between Nigeria and Cuba on Thursday, 23rd May, 2013 in his office in Abuja, the Minister of Sports and Chairman, National Sports Commission, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi expressed confidence that "The new agreement will foster co-operation and mutual understanding between the two countries".
He also stated that the treaty will indeed enable both countries contribute and share experiences in areas where one country is lacking and the other has an advantage.
Abdullahi called for the strengthening of the ties between Nigeria and Cuba, stressing the need for urgent steps to be taken to actualize the subsisting understanding between the two countries.
Earlier in his remarks, the Cuban Ambassador to Nigeria, Hugo Ramos had assured the Minister of his country's determination to explore every area of sports co-operation with the National Sports Commission.
He expressed optimism that the treaty will help in addressing issues bordering on Sports development with Nigeria as both countries should strive to use sports and culture to build bridges of co-operation.
Ambassador Ramos also stated that Cuba was ready to partner with Nigeria in exchange of Manpower in sports such as boxing, athletics etc. and willing to continue with the existing bi lateral relationship between both countries.

These are two great countries that the love sport. This did not come as a surprise to me as a person. It was expected.
