The 2012 Kia Rio sedan, which will join the elite roll call of 40 mpg fuel misers, made its world debut on Thursday at the 2011 New York Auto Show. The 2012 Kia Rio gets a new 138-horsepower 1.6-liter GDI four-cylinder engine linked to either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic.
Kia told Inside Line that both sedan and hatchback models of the 2012 Rio will be priced under $13,000. The hatchback will go on sale this summer, while the sedan will debut in October.
