Title: Don’t Lose Focus, Taiwo Ogunjobi Tells Keshi
Post by: Folami David on May 27, 2013, 12:18 AM
As the Super Eagles get set for the busy June schedule, former Secretary General of the then Nigeria Football Association (NFA), Taiwo Ogunjobi, has urged Coach Stephen Keshi not to lose focus as some of the team's key players would not be available for some matches.
.
"It seems Keshi is worried with the situation in camp right now, but he should not lose focus. He has some other good and young players in the team that he can rely on.
.
"He should just go ahead and plan his strategies round the players available in camp and forget about those that are not around.
.
"I'm not saying the absentees are not relevant or not good, all I'm saying is that he should stay focus and not get distracted by anything.
.
"He has a plan for the team and my advice is that he should pursue his goal and target in the interest of all and sundry," said Ogunjobi.
.
In a related development, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has also urged the coach to make do with the players in camp for the assignments at hand.
.
NFF President, Aminu Maigari, said the Federation will give all necessary support to Keshi to succeed in his assignments.
.
Nigeria faces Mexico in an international friendly in Houston, Texas on May 31 as part of preparations for the team's two World Cup qualifiers as well as the FIFA Confederations Cup in June.
.
Already the team is seriously depleted by the withdrawal of several players because of injury as well as club engagements.
.
Victor Moses, Kalu Uche, Gabriel Reuben have been ruled out due to injury while Mikel Obi is not sure to be available for the match. The likes of Ahmed Musa, Fegor Ogude and Efe Ambrose are also likely to miss the Mexico match but will be part of the FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil.

This is a very good talk from the man. Stephen Keshi needs to hold on to it cos it is a very useful advice.
