(http://fmi.gov.ng/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Murtala-H.-Nyako1-286x300.jpg) Just as the state of emergency imposed on Adamawa State by the Federal Government enters its third week, Governor Murtala H. Nyako has advised leaders of clubs and associations in the State to caution their members against violating security orders during the period of the emergency in the State.
While addressing officials of the Gamzaki Traders Associations, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and National Union of Road Transport Owners in the State at the Government House, in continuation of his state-wide consultation with stakeholders on how best to observe the emergency rule, the Governor warned that any attempt to truncate the process would have adverse effect on the people of the State. He stressed the need for all concerned to ensure strict compliance with the emergency rule in order not to incur the wrath of the law.
The Governor said, as major stakeholders, it was imperative to interact with them to enable them know how best to sensitize their members on the implications of emergency rule, adding that as part of efforts to sustain harmonious working relationship with the 23rd Armoured Brigade Yola, and the civil society, a liaison office has been established to ensure cordial relationship between the military and civilians in the State.
Governor Nyako said that the State government had relaxed the official working hours for civil servants in the State from 8.00am to 3.00pm as against 8.00am to 4.00pm to cushion the effect and hardship workers may be exposed to as a result of the emergency rule.
He appealed to the people of the State to pray hard for lasting solution to be achieved during the emergency rule in the State; adding that the State government was making plans to assist the less privileged in the society, whose sources of livelihood might have been affected by the emergency rule.
Whilst responding on behalf of the officials of clubs and associations in the State, Alhaji Baba Paris commended Governor Nyako for his leadership role since the declaration of the emergency rule in the State.
Alhaji Baba Paris who is also the District Head of Jimeta and Dan-Isa Adamawa, noted with satisfaction the role played by the State government and other stakeholders, especially the office of the "Sarkin Matasan Adamawa (Youth Leader) Alhaji Abdul-Aziz H.Nyako in sensitizing youths in the State on the need to obey the laws of the emergency rule.
He lauded the cooperation and understanding of the Commander of the 23rd Armoured Brigade, Yola for establishing a liaison office to ensure cordial relationship between civilians and the military in the State.
The Governor held similar meetings with members of the state executive council, Local Government Chairmen, Administrators of Development Areas, Muslim Council, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and others.
