(http://fmi.gov.ng/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Murtala_Nyako.jpg) The people of Adamawa State have been called upon to pray fervently for divine intervention in the current security challenges facing the country.
Governor Murtala H. Nyako made the call while declaring open the North-East geo-political zone's intelligence sensitization and community partnership workshop organized by the Nigeria Police Force at the Silver Hotel, Yola.
The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Barrister Bala James Nggillari said that the current security challenges which are threatening the corporate existence of the country required all hands to be on deck.
He observed that no nation could attain any meaningful development in an atmosphere devoid of peace and stability, stressing that Adamawa State Government has invested a lot in protecting lives and property of its people.
Governor Nyako who commended the Police for organizing the forum said the event couldn't have come at a better time than now, hoping that participants will do justice to the subject with a view to finding a lasting solution to the problem.
In his speech at the forum, the Deputy Governor of Yobe State, Engineer Abubakar Aliyu suggested the re-establishment of community security committees to gather intelligence reports to curtail security challenges at the grassroots.
Engineer Aliyu called on Police authorities to set up implementation committee on the out-come of the workshop to ensure that the decisions taken at the forum are implemented for the benefit of the people.
While speaking earlier, the Inspector-General (IG) of Police, Alhaji Mohammed Dahiru Abubakar said the idea behind the conduct of the workshop in all the six geo-political zones in the country was to enlighten citizens at the grassroots to engender the spirit of security consciousness and to encourage community partnership and political support in intelligence functions of the police.
The Inspector-General of Police who was represented by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Alhaji Atiku Yusuf Kafur assured stakeholders that the communiqué to be produced at the end of the workshop would be fully implemented for the betterment of the society.
In his welcome address, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (IGP) in-Charge of Research and Planning and Overseer of the North-East geo-political zone, Alhaji Yusuf Kafur lauded the effort of the Inspector-General for iniating the forum and commended stake-holders in the zone for attending the workshop.
In his vote of thanks, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in-charge of Force Intelligence Bureau, Mr. Solomon Arese expressed the confidence that the outcome of the forum would go a long way in improving intelligence gathering for the Police Force.
The workshop was attended by top Police Officers, government functionaries, traditional rulers, religious leaders and other stakeholders in security affairs of the North-East geo-political zone.
Leading papers on the subject matter were presented by scholars and professionals during the workshop.
