The Ogun State House of Assembly has called on security agencies to beef up security in Sagamu to protect the lives and property of the people in the area. The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Suraj Ishola Adekunbi made the call at the resumption of plenary, while responding to a request made under personal explanation by Hon. Adeyinka Mafe and corroborated by Hon. Olusegun Solarin.
Adekunbi who had earlier read a letter from the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun requesting a bill for law to amend the State Pension Reform Law 2006, said that it was worrisome to note that in spite of government’s laudable efforts and investment in safety measures in the State, security challenges were still being witnessed in the town.
He therefore called on all security agencies in the State to make sure that the nefarious activities of cultists were nipped in the bud.
Earlier in their appeal, Honourables Adeyinka Mafe and Olusegun Solarin representing Sagamu 1 and 2 State constituencies lamented the security situation in their area, disclosing that in the last one week, about three persons had been killed by guns wielding cultists who went around brandishing dangerous weapons in broad day light and night.
