Commandant, Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, Air Vice Marshal Effiong E. Osim, said at the weekend that the perpetrators of the suicide bombing at the Saint Andrew Protestant Catholic Church, at the Jaji Military Cantonment about six months ago, used a special bomb, blended with deadly chemical and pellet.
The November 25, 2012 attack resulted in the death of a number of worshippers and residents of the cantonment with scores of others injured.
Osim spoke when members of the Presidential Committee on Dialogue and Peaceful Resolution on security challenges in northern Nigeria visited him.
Osim who took the chairman of the committee, Tanimu Turaki, and other members of the committee to the premises of the church.
He explained that the bomb was not designed to pull down the church but contained sharp pellet blended with chemical.
According to him, once the pellet comes in contact with a person, "it will just peel the skin of the victim to a high degree of burns and it was such contact that killed one of the officers in the cantonment.
"The bomb that hit this church was a special bomb, it was not designed to pull down the structure of the church; it is a kind of bomb that contained dangerous chemical and pellet that could fly long distance once it is detonated.
"And once the pellet touches the victim, it is instant death or the skin will begin to peel to a high level degree of injuries.
"This is what killed one of our officers because he was standing some few distances from the scene of the incident.
"Well, we have started rebuilding the church because the roof, as you can see, was badly damaged, and the Ministry of Defence has promised to assist us with some amount of money."

We are aware of how deadly they can be when it comes to bombing delicate places in Nigeria. It's tragic!
Things just have to be settled before peeps move out of Nigeria and never come back. It's just a shame.
