Super Eagles' former player, Mutiu Adepoju, has called on Coach Stephen Keshi to take into cognisance players' recent form and performance and assemble those with grit for the imminent World Cup qualifier against Kenya.
In a recent chat with Daily Sunsports, Adepoju warned that the Nairobi cracker deserved the attention and support of all concerned, stressing that Nigerians will forget in a puff of the wind the Nations Cup victory if the team fails to get to the Brazil 2014 World Cup. The former General Manager of 3SC of Ibadan said that he envisaged war as the June 5, 2013 encounter will stretch the players and coaches physically and psychologically because of the draw Super Eagles recorded in Calabar during the first leg qualifiers.
" It is dicey and I envisage a very different form of battle from the Kenyans because they will use every prank in the book to frustrate and intimidate the boys. "I advise Keshi to toughen up his boys and prepare them for the worst in Nairobi. It is going to be difficult and the best legs should be used for the game. "Kenyans, being at home and desperate to get the maximum point form the encounter would do every thing possible to provoke the Eagles, which could cause anger that may lead to foul and put them in a tight corner.
I advise that tempers should be checkmated to avoid playing into the opponents hands. " Recently, we seem to have got our groove back in football especially after winning the Nations Cup. It is imperative for us to unite in support for the team.
