Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has admitted that he will face a tough time over the summer as he tries to keep his squad intact.
.
The former West Ham United manager has been in talks with the club's owner, Mike Ashley, who has given him a minimum target of finishing inside the top 10 of the Premier League next season.
.
In order to do that, Pardew will need to keep the Toon squad intact, which is something that he admits might not be that easy.
.
"We're one of those clubs where we're liable to lose one of our great players to a Champions League team through finance and sometimes the will of the player," the Newcastle manager was reported as saying on Sky Sports.
.
"You can't keep a player who doesn't want to stay."
.
He may face a fight on his hands to keep star forward Hatem Ben Arfa from moving to London to compete in Europe next season as Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing the Frenchman, according to the broadcaster.
.
The Express reported that the former Marseille player was in talks with Spurs earlier in the month, and that the Lillywhites had stolen a march on oil-rich Paris Saint-Germain in the pursuit of the player.
.
Goalkeeper Tim Krul has also been linked with a move away from Tyneside this summer, as AC Milan are rumoured to be interested in the Dutch stopper.
Newcastle FC must do everything possible to keep their key players ahead of next season's English Premier League.
