Post by: PeoplesDaily on May 28, 2013, 03:30 AM
The Emir of Daura in Katsina state, Alhaji Umar Farouk Umar has protested the house to house search by securities agents deployed in his domain describing the act as in human and unwarranted .

Speaking when he received Members of the National Assembly from Katsina State under the Platform of Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) who paid a visit over the recent attack by unknown persons said the house to house search policy would not address the issue of insurgency.

He described traditional rulers as custodians of the people and that they are ready to support and cooperate with security agents with a view to achieving a common goal.

He said what happened in his Emirate was unfortunate even as he commended the three senators from Katsina state and 10 members of the House of Representatives from Katsina state who came to commiserate with the people of Daura.

The Emir appealed to them to make laws that will transform the lives of the people.

Speaking with journalists shortly after the visit, Hon. Mansur Abdulkadir Funtua attributed the precarious security situation in the country to what he described as misrule by the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

According to him, "for almost 15 years, the ruling party has failed woefully to address the problems of poverty, unemployment, corruption and insecurity," noting that no meaningful government anywhere in the world can fold its arm and watch people kill innocent souls and government officials loot public funds and go unpunished.
