Civil rights activist, Mr. Bamidele Aturu, has described the Nigeria Governors' Forum as an immoral body, which ought to be disbanded.
Aturu, a Lagos-based legal practitioner, made this submission in a statement on Monday following the controversy which greeted the outcome of the chairmanship election of the body.
Aturu specifically expressed disappointment with Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State for being "part of this nonsense."
Describing the body of 36 governors as one of the "idle organisations" in the country, the lawyer said it "is nothing but an avenue for unnecessary waste of public funds".
He expressed the hope that the current crisis rocking the NGF would eventually terminate its existence.
Aturu said, "All said, it is clear to me that the NGF itself, and I have said this before, is an immoral assembly that ought to be dismembered by all means necessary.
"It is nothing but an avenue for unnecessary waste of public funds. I have no problem with Governors forming a social club; but by all means let them not fund their 'extracurricular' social activities with our resources.

I agree totally with him because most of them are involved for their own selfish reasons. Something has to be done to correct it.
