An Islamic organisation, the Jama'atu Nasril Islam, JNI, yesterday called on the Federal Government to, as a matter of urgency, find a lasting solution to the current hardship being faced by Nigerians.
In a Democracy Day statement by the Chairman of JNI Kaduna State chapter, Alhaji Jafaru Makarfi, the body appealed to the Federal Government to create job opportunities, revive collapsed industries and enhance the agricultural sector, among others to ameliorate the plight of the people.
The statement called on Muslim Umma to pray for the survival of democracy and the nation's peace despite the challenges.
JNI said: "We appealed to the executive, legislative and judicial arms of government to always put the fear of the Almighty Allah in all activities for democracy to stand."
Meanwhile, a member of the Electoral Reforms Committee, Festus Okoye, yesterday charged politicians to do what is right as the era of military intervention is not over in the country.
Okoye said those politicians that think that the military will never take over power again in the country will be surprised if they continued in their undemocratic ways.
