Title: Ogun State - Amosun swears in new judges, pledges to strengthen the judiaciary

 Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun today in Abeokuta, the State capital swore in three new High Court judges with a promise to do the needful to strengthen the judiciary in the State. Speaking while swearing-in the new judges which included the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice, Mrs. Funmilayo Oduniyi, Governor Amosun described the judiciary as a strong pillar of democracy which must be made stronger to perform its role as the “last hope of the common man”.

The Governor said his administration attached great importance to the quick dispensation of justice and would continue to provide an enabling environment for the adjudication of cases in accordance with the “Ogun Standard”.

“On our part as a government, we will provide the needed support and cooperation to address the challenges in the State Judiciary. We have gone on inspection and have good understanding of the challenges facing the State judiciary, they are already receiving the needed attention” the Governor revealed.

Amosun said apart from giving attention to the welfare of judges, the State government had also set in motion machineries to complete the judiciary headquarters, build new courts and renovate existing court buildings as well as equip their libraries. While congratulating the new judges, the State helmsman enjoined them to work assiduously to quicken the process of dispensing justice, acknowledging that members of both the bar and the bench had been supportive of his administration’s mission to rebuild the State.

The two other judges sworn in are Justices Sikiru Owodunni who until now was the Chief Registrar of the State High Court and Sonia Akinbiyi, who until her present appointment was the Chief Registrar, Investment and Security Tribunal.
