The Lagos Island Millennium Group has moved a step forward towards achieving its target of making sure that no building on the Lagos Island is gutted by fire again by the completion of its N1billion, well-equipped, purposebuilt fire station in the heart of Lagos Island.
Located at the Ajele Fire Station on Campbell Street, on Lagos Island, the project, which is a key component of LIMGE's ongoing rebirth agenda for the Lagos Island, was facilitated in a partnership between LIMGE and Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company, SNEPCO, and other institutional partners.
President of the Lagos Island Millennium Group, Chief (Mrs.) TaiwoTaiwo, said the project was one of LIMGE's clear mandates from inception. "This is because we are aware of the fact that the Lagos Island area is densely populated with close clusters and has always been prone to fire incidents, even from colonial times," she said.
Continuing, Taiwo noted that "what LIMGE is doing is showing example of Private Public Partnership, PPP, for others to see and get involved in their communities so we can build a better Lagos and Nigeria."
The new Ajele Fire Station, which is expected to be officially commissioned by President Goodluck Jonathan in June as part of the centenary project, boasts of a gym, recreational room, communication equipment, training facilities, four state-of-the-art fire-fighting motorbikes, brand new fire fighting kits and top quality modern fire fighting and communication equipment.
