A group of gunmen yesterday evening kidnapped the father of the Borno state Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajia Inna Galadina.
Sources said Galadima, a septuagenarian, was kidnapped by three gunmen who stormed his house in Maiduguri metropolis.
Details of the incident were not immediately available as at press time as both spokespersons for the Joint Military Task Force (JTF) and state police command could not be reached.
Security sources told newsmen that three gunmen stormed Galadima's house in a Volkswagen Golf car and fired sporadic shots into the air before forcing the old man enter into their car.
It was further gathered that the family of the victim were plunged into confusion over his whereabouts, especially as they cannot communicate with the abductors following the teo-week long switch-off of the telecom networks in the entire stste.
"He is aged and has some health issues. We are really concerned about his condition of health now. To worsen the situation, there is no GSM service to contact the kidnappers.
"It is a big problem and we are confused now," a relation of the victim who declined identification told newsmen amidst tears.
