Nigeria midfielder, John Obi Mikel, has been forced to change his travel plans for the 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifier against Kenya this Wednesday.
.
Mikel will not travel with the African champions from Germany to Kenya on Monday.
.
Coordinator of the Nigeria team, Emmanuel Attah, disclosed that the Chelsea midfielder is left with the option of travelling straight to Nairobi on Monday after he could not secure a Schengen visa.
.
"We have 24 players in camp right now. Ahmed Musa and Fengor Ogude joined the team (at the weekend) and Fengor was able to train with the team. As for Mikel, he was unable to secure a Schengen visa into Germany so he will travel straight to Nairobi and connect there with the team.
.
"The team will leave Germany around 11am, which is 10am Nigerian time, for Nairobi on Monday," Attah told Brila FM.
.
Mikel was excused from last Saturday's international friendly with Mexico in Houston which ended 2-2.
.
Africans are usually required to secure a visa, either on a short-stay or transit, to enter any of the 26 countries under the Schengen area.
This Visa hitch always affect Nigerian players and it's not even funny. Mikel Obi is a very important player right now.
