Job Title: Snr Research Associate

Job Description: – This position support development of inbreds and works in collaboration on a variety of maize research activities in Kenya. – A key function will be integrating conventional and molecular breeding approaches including analyses, program/experimental designs/field, plot designs, etc. – The position plays a key role in managing logistical activities including, but not limited to, data collection, data quality and analysis, seed preparation, tissue sampling, planting, pollinating and harvesting. – Conducts experiments, adapts procedures as required Plans new experiments in consultation with Manager and other Scientists Maintains and improves efficiencies in work place operations Summarizes experiments, manages and analyzes data, prepares reports. Supervises and is accountable for assigned projects and coordinates experiments with other locations. – Will also serve on broader cross function teams as may be required Will be involved in helping hire and train other employees as procedures become more established
Qualifications:
Education and Experience; – MSc in plant breeding, statistics or related agricultural disciplines. – 4-6 Yrs industry related experience.
Competencies: Proven application of breeding principles, quantitative statistical software – including QTL analysis, and conducting of field and nursery trials in a commercial situation that create commercial products.
