The Igbo Nationality Right Assembly (INRA) has urged the Federal Government to compensate all victims of the Boko Haram bombings and other attacks in the northern part of the country, in the spirit of equity, fairness and justice.
National Convener of the group, Chief Sam Okey Nwosu, made the call at the close of the group's summit in Lagos.
Claiming that the Igbo constitute about 80 per cent of victims of the insurgent attacks, the group asked the Igbo at home and in the Diaspora to support the demand for compensation.
According to Nwosu, the INRA has initiated the compilation of data on identified victims of Igbo extraction to ascertain what they lost during the period.
He chided the Igbo over what Nwosu described as their lukewarm attitude towards pursuing their collective rights.
According to him, "the unity of purpose with which the Igbo will fight for the compensation for their unfortunate kinsmen will indicate how prepared they are to fight their marginalization in the scheme of things and have a Nigerian President of Igbo extraction.
"The elite who are supposed to stand and protect the interest of the Igbo would rather pursue their personal agenda against the interest of the race, while leaders of other races put the interest of their people at the front burner.
"Igbo leaders should come together to negotiate for whatever belongs to them, especially the presidency that has eluded the tribe all this while.

The group has done a lot of damage so it's no news that a lot of compensation would be made. It's just a sad experience.
Boko Haram victims would definately feel like leaving Nigeria right now. I'm sure we've heard enough of them already.
