The Senate Committee on Education has commended the Kwara State Government for its education policy thrust which ensures proactive response to most of the challenges in basic education in the State.
The Chairman, Senate Committee on Education, Senator Uche Chukwumerije gave the commendation during the Senate Committee's courtesy visit to Governor AbdulFatahi Ahmed of Kwara State while on oversight tour to the Federal Education Institutions in the State.
Senator Chukwumerije applauded the State Government's giant step at ensuring training and re-training of all categories of teachers in the State.
He pointed out that Senate focuses not only on basic education, but on all facets of education. He urged the State to accord priority to other sectors in the interest of the State and country at large.
In his response, Governor AbdulFatahi Ahmed remarked that education is a pivotal determinant for the future of any nation. He said, his administration will continue to make available its counterpart fund in the education sector.
The Governor expressed his Government's determination to deploy more resources towards providing qualitative education to the good people of Kwara State which necessitated the setting up of Ministry of Tertiary Education out of the original Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development to enable the youth acquire vocational training that will prepare them to stand on their feet.
