Prof. Daniel Saroh, the 2011 ANPP gubernatorial candidate in Benue state, yesterday advised Nigerian leaders to regard nation building as a collective responsibility.
Saroh said in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, that leaders must set aside their selfish interests and work for the collective growth and development of the country.
According to him, the crisis in the Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF) was not healthy in a democracy and called on the governors to reconcile.
"If 35 governors cannot conduct credible election, how do you expect the INEC Chairman Prof. Attahiru Jega to conduct a successful election in 2015," he said.
"The crisis rocking the NGF is not likely to get better for the development of the country. The situation is not encouraging.
"Nigerians are getting pessimistic that the 2015 general election will be manipulated by government,'' he added.
"Some of them are not even doing well in their states and they are fighting over the leadership of the forum'', he noted, alleging that the group was only "feeding fat on the nation's resources in their various states''.
He urged the PDP to be democratic in its operations by maintaining an all inclusive system that would carry everybody along in running the affairs of the party.
On the travails of Gov. Rotimi Amaechi, Saroh advised the PDP and the Federal Government to stop over heating the polity and allow the governor to run the affairs of his state. (NAN)
