Title: Kenya Lose Five Top Stars For Eagles Tie
Post by: Folami David on Jun 04, 2013, 10:51 PM
Harambee Stars players to be insured for Nigeria clash Kenya face Nigeria in tomorrow's 2014 World Cup qualifier in Nairobi without some of their best players.
.
Striker Dennis Oliech and goalkeeper Arnold Origi are suspended while midfielders; McDonald Mariga and David Gateri are injured. While Ayub Timbe snubbed his call-up for the match.
.
Oliech is suspended after picking up two yellow cards in previous qualifiers. The striker was very influential in the 1-1 with Nigeria in their first match.
.
Coach Adel Amrouche told media: "Oliech is here to motivate the boys and he is important to the team even if he does not play. As for Timbe, we are disappointed because it is every player's dream to represent their country. It is unpatriotic for Timbe to refuse to come, just as he did when we played Nigeria in Calabar."
.
Victor Wanyama is likely to captain Kenya against Nigeria after having had a great season for his Scottish Premier League side Glasgow Celtic winning the League and Cup Double, while also winning the 'Players' Player' and 'Young Player of the Year' awards.
.
"He is a good example for professionalism," Amrouche said of Wanyama.
.
"I believe so much in him and he is a player African youths can emulate," he added.
.
Meanwhile, Harambee Stars' players will need no more to worry about if they are to pick injuries in tomorrow's win or bust cracker. The national team has been given a 1 million shilling insurance sponsorship by insurance company UAP.
.
This will be part of the Football Kenya's Federation 'Mbao for bao' fund raising scheme which is set to raise funds for the team to participate fully in the World Cup Qualifiers.
.
UAP will add another one million shillings for the team which is preparing to host Nigeria on Wednesday.
.
According to the UAP Managing Director James Wambugu, they will be sitting down with FKF to discuss modalities of the sponsorship package and he has also said they are looking at entering a long term partnership with FKF.

Kenya has a compact team due to what they did against Nigeria in the first leg. I'm worried ahead of the second leg.

It's no good news for them to lose their best players right now at all. Kenya would find it difficult to win
