(http://fmi.gov.ng/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/coat-of-arms2.gif) The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) under the Chairmanship of Deaconess Joan O. Ayo has met with various professional bodies in Nigeria recently in Abuja to collaborate to restore the core values of discipline, integrity, accountability, meritocracy and professionalism in the conduct of Directorate level promotion examination/interview in the Federal Civil Service.
The FCSC Chairperson expressed concern over the level of moral decadence in the Federal Civil Service whilst observing that corruption was on the increase in the system because Nigerian Civil Service which is the engine room of the government has lost its core values. She however, expressed optimism that with the professionals coming on board, they would help in the restoration process with regards to promotion examinations and interviews.
The Commission also urged the bodies to carry out the national assignment with strict adherence to the scheme of work of each category of staff as stipulated in the scheme of Service.
In response, the professional bodies, some of which include the Institutes of Public Administration of Nigeria, National Institute of Personnel Management, Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, Legal Aid Council, Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, Council of Mining Engineers and Geoscientists, Quantity Surveyors' Registration Board of Nigeria, Librarians Registration Council of Nigeria, National Bureau of Statistics, Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria, Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria, etc commended the Commission for recognizing the importance of collaboration with professional associations in achieving its set objectives adding that it was an indication that FCSC was desirous of moving the Civil Service forward.
The Commission further stated that dates and venue for the conduct of the examination/interview would be published in due course.
