(http://fmi.gov.ng/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Chinedu-Nebo-Minister-of-Power-300x200.jpg) The Minister of Power, Professor Chinedu Nebo has approved the immediate constitution of a Technical Investigative Panel on system collapses.
A statement announcing this development, signed by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Power Ambassador (Dr.) Godknows Igali said this is necessitated by an unsavoury trend of system collapses in the recent past.
The Technical Investigative Panel is to be headed by a retired Director of Electrical Inspectorate Services, Engr. Fatai Olapade.
Other members include Engr. Jonathan Ogbonna, former CEO Egbin Power Plant; Engr. John Kingsley Achefe, former Executive Director PHCN, and Engr. Imo Ekpo, Vice President International Commission on Dams.
Others are a representative of the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission, a representative of of the EIS department, and a representative of the Department of Power.
Also to serve on the technical investigative panel on power systems collapses is Mr. Olukunle Olubiyi, President, Network for Energy Reform, a representative of power generation companies, and a representative of power distribution companies.
Meanwhile, reports say electricity supply has been restored to Sokoto and environs, where supply was disrupted as a result of a recent storm that led to the collapse of transmission towers.
