(http://fmi.gov.ng/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/coat-of-arms2.gif) The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita has called on the staff of the Ministry to be patient and committed to work, despite the challenges that go with starting anything afresh. She made the remarks at the maiden meeting she had with staff of the Ministry in Abuja on Tuesday, 4th June, 2013. While noting the challenges faced by the Ministry in the area of accommodation and slow release of funds, the Permanent Secretary advised staffs that are not satisfied with current happenings to leave, as she would not want to be burdened with disgruntled staff.

Mrs. Oyo-Ita further encouraged the staff to work with the Directors, who she commended for their tremendous support to her. She noted that the essence of life is to add value to it; and only then, does the blessing follows.
Special Duties Ministry has existed in time past as a Ministry, was phased out, restructured and further existed as an Office in the Office of Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF). However, in February 2013, it was reconstituted as a full-fledged Federal Ministry with additional responsibility for Inter-governmental Affairs and a Minister of cabinet rank was appointed in person of Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, who is the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Dialogue and Peaceful Resolution of Security Challenges in the North.
The Permanent Secretary said the Minister would have loved to be at the meeting with the staff, but for the national assignment he is charged with.
Mrs. Oyo-Ita was sworn in as a Permanent Secretary in March, 2013 and assumed duty in the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs in April, 2013.
