"In 2013 as at 24th May, a total of 24 Wild Polio Virus (WPVs) were reported from 9 States. As at 31st May 2013, a total of 816 suspected cases of Lassa fever with 144 laboratory-confirmed and 26 deaths (CFR, 3.19%) were reported from were reported in 23 LGAs across 11 States.
From week 1-21, 2013, only 3 suspected cholera cases with one death (CFR, 33.33%) were reported from 2 LGAs in 2 States, while for Cerebrospinal Meningitis (CSM), 738 suspected cases with 4 lab confirmed, 34 deaths (CFR, 4.74%) from 105 LGAs in 25 States. In 2013 (weeks 1 – 21) forty-two thousand, three hundred and forty-seven (42,347) suspected measles cases (Figure 8) with 21,528 confirmed, 268 deaths (CFR, 0.63%) were reported from 36 States and FCT were reported. A total of 67 GWD rumours were reported, investigated and confirmed negative in 48 LGAs (14 States) between weeks 1 and 21, 2013; but 57 (85.1%) were investigated within 24 hours."
