(http://fmi.gov.ng/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Nigerdeltaminister-300x192.jpg) The Minister of Niger Delta Elder Godsday Orubebe has said that the East-West road which commenced in 2006 and was taken over by the Ministry at 10% completion in 2010, has now reached over 52% completion.
Orubebe presenting score card at MP2013 Elder Godsday Orubebe disclosed this at the on-going Ministerial platform, 2013 being held at the National Press Centre, Abuja.
The Minister said, "With the level of commitment by this administration, the road will be completed by the end of December, 2014.
Elder Orubebe further said that "Some sections of the road have been completed and are due for handing over by the contractors." He listed the completed sections to include: the component of the East-West Road, section I-IV; the reconstruction of Benin-Abraka section and the reconstruction of Owerri-Elele road as well as dualization of East-West Road section of Warri-Oron which falls within Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers and Akwa Ibom States and this is about 338 kms.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the Minister of Information and host, Minister Mr. Labaran Maku said the Jonathan's administration has brought tremendious transformation in the Niger Delta which has suffered so much set back in the past.
