Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Aminu Tambuwal, said on Thursday that the chamber passed 60 bills in the last two years.
The figure gave 30 bills apiece to each of the two years.
The current House was inaugurated on June 6, 2011 and Thursday (yesterday) was the second anniversary.
Tambuwal addressed his colleagues and guests at a special event to commemorate the anniversary in Abuja.
He told the session that a total of 512 bills were introduced in the two years.
Out of the figure, he said 60 had been passed by lawmakers while 134 others were still before various committees of the House.
He stated, "A total of 512 bills have been raised all of which have passed first readings; 60 bills have so far been passed into law, while 134 are undergoing legislative action, having undergone second reading and are at Committee stage.
"Some of the bills passed include NNDC Statutory Appropriation Act; State of the Nation Address Act; Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act; Terrorism (Prevention) Act; Maintenance of Public Infrastructure; Banking; Employment and labour issues; education; and agriculture.
"Some of the important ones at Committee stage include the constitution Amendment Bill, the Petroleum Industry Bill, the Hydro-Electric Power Production Areas Development Commission (Amendment) bill among others."
The speaker added that the House passed "over 700 motions" and treated about 1, 000 petitions received from individuals and groups in the country.
On its duties of representation, Tambuwal said the House had continued to press for the inclusion of constitution projects in the national budget in a bid to provide basic facilities in rural communities.
He claimed that but for the constituency projects, large segments of the country would have been without any government presence.
The Speaker added, "The House has continued to press for constituency projects to ameliorate situations of total neglect of certain sections, especially the rural areas where over 70 per cent of the citizens reside."
