Joseph Yobo and Ikechukwu Uche will have no chance to feature in this year's Fifa Confederations Cup in Brazil after Nigeria head coach, Stephen Keshi named a squad of 22 players.
.
Yobo and Uche were part of the 23-man roster that won the last edition of the Africa Cup of Nations but has since suffered blackouts in recent matches of the Super Eagles.
.
The duo of Emmanuel Emenike and Gabriel Reuben, also Afcon winners, were left out of the squad owing to injuries.
.
Instead, Keshi has stuck to 22 out of 23 players that travelled for Wednesday's 2014 Fifa World Cup against Kenya in Nairobi in which the Nigerians won 1-0.
.
Seven players from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) made the cut. They include Chigozie Agbim, Azubuike Egwuekwe, Godfrey Oboabona, Emeka Eze, Sunday Mba, Francis Benjamin and Gambo Mohammed.
.
Heartland striker, Obinna Nwachukwu, who made the trip to Nairobi, has been left out of the squad for the Festival of Champions scheduled to kick off on June 15.
.
The world soccer governing body, Fifa, announced the squads for the eight nations that will take part at the Confederations Cup on Friday.
.
The African champions will start their campaign against Tahiti in Belo Horizonte on June 17.
.
Before then, Keshi's men will face Namibia in a 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifier in Windhoek on Wednesday and later fly into South Africa on June 13 to connect a flight to Sao Paulo, Brazil for the 2013 Fifa Confederations Cup.
.
Nigeria are expected to arrive in Belo Horizonte three days before their opening game against Tahiti.
Joseph Yobo I can understand but I still believe he should've goiven Ikechukwu Uche a chance to prove himself again.
