Title: Time to possess your land, says Pastor Okereke
Post by: Mirror on Jun 09, 2013, 12:31 AM
General Overseer of Global Success Ministries (GSM), FESTAC Town, Lagos, Senior Pastor (Dr.) Chima Okereke, in this sermon, gives scriptural pre-requisites needed for you 'to possess your possession' and move on to the next level. Excerpts

In Exodus 3:7-8, "And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; And I am come down to deliver them out of the hands of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites."

Now, the people of Israel were in another land where they lived like slaves; they were forced to do things against their wish. Torment, sorrow and pains were the order of the day in their lives but they could not do anything to save themselves because they don't know where they will run to that will be better for them; but because God so loved the Israelites.

So in their afflictions, they cried unto God and God heard them and delivered them from the hands of the Egyptians into a land of milk and honey. Now, take yourself to be the Israelites as an individual, family, community or Nation; if you are convinced that what you are experiencing is not supposed to be; then it is time for you to possess your land. The land in the context of this sermon can be classified into two. From the scripture quoted above, the Israelites left the first land they were occupying into a new land that God has prepared for them.

This means that, the first land they lived in was a land of pains, sorrow, sufferings and all kinds of afflictions under the control and supervision of another people, while the other land was a land filled with all the desired blessings they needed so long as they lived, a land where they are in-charge and living without fear of any kind, a land where everything was at their beck and call. So many people are living in a strange land where affliction, sorrows, pains are overwhelming them. God is assuring you through this sermon that it is time for you to come out of that unfavourable place into your own land of abundance which God had prepared for you.

When we say possess the land, it means that because you are in a new appointed land which God has ordained you to be, all those things that have not be working for you shall begin to work in Jesus' name. It could be that you have been struggling for promotion, you will be promoted in Jesus' name; if you have been denied contract of any kind, you will get it; if your ministry is not doing well, it will begin to grow in Jesus' Name; you may be eating in dream, making love in dream and as a result experiencing bad luck and hindrances of your favour in life, all that will stop and favour will begin to locate you.

If you have been sick, you will start living in good health; if you are poor, you will begin to live in abundance; if you have been barren, you will become the mother of children; if you are not born again, salvation shall come unto you. If you have been searching for admission into school for a long time, you will gain it without sweat; if you have been searching for job for many years, you will get the best and well paid job, you will be living in dominion over everything around you, you will be respected and honoured, the business that is not moving will start progressing.

Whatever be the case of the old land you were living in, in this new land God has taken you to, you will not find them anymore. If you believe it shout Halleluyah. The Israelites were able to possess their land because they cried unto God and God heard them and delivered them which means even in that affliction, no matter how terrible it may be, keep crying unto the God until He intervenes.

Now, how do you know that God has heard you? It is when you begin to see physical and spiritual manifestation for change. In the book of Exodus 3:1-15, after God heard their cry, He located Moses at mountain Horeb whom He sent on the journey for the liberation of the Israelites; when Moses came before the Children of Israel, he said in Exodus 3:15 "And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations" then they became convinced that it was time for God to deliver them.

I pray that God shall send His Angel to free you from that situation in Jesus' Name. God loves you, He sees everything you are going through; but have you constantly called on Him to deliver you.

The book of Isaiah 59:1-2 says "Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear". So while crying on Him to deliver you, you have to search yourself and do away with everything that is not of God so that He can deliver you.

So many of the Israelites who murmured and committed sin and all forms of wickedness on their way to the Promised Land were not opportune to possess the land God had prepared for them. So, you too must stand firm and upright in that affliction so that the afflictions will not deprive you of the blessings of God. Now, understand this very well; that the land where God had promised to take the Israelites was already occupied by some group of people who are Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, who were enjoying the milk and honey flowing from the land.

The Israelites were the people who rightfully should have been in that land enjoying the milk and honey flowing from the land because God had destined it to be so, but along the line, they fell into the hands of the Egyptians where they were enslaved for many years. I pray for you today, that your miracles and blessings shall not fit or size another person in Jesus' name.

There are people today that have applied for contracts but when it gets to the time to sign these contracts, they will call the phone number of the person, it will not connect. Some that have applied for jobs, at the time to receive appointment letters, their phone will not be available. Some other persons, when customers come to negotiate business worth of millions with them, they will be nowhere to be found; and then these blessings which belong to these people will be diverted to someone else.

The reason is because the enemy wants to deprive them of their possession. These are some of the reasons you need deliverance. Deliverance means been saved from evil, danger and pains. For you to possess your land, you have to be delivered from all those negative powers holding you bound to certain unhappy states in life. The book of Obadiah 1:17 says "But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions". I don't know the area of your life that you want God to deliver you; in the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, you are delivered in Jesus' Name. The purpose for your deliverance is to stop the suffering and live a fulfilling life.

The book of Jeremiah 29:11 says "For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end". God has already designed a good future devoid of any kind disaster the enemy would have planned to afflict on you. For example if you are already experiencing strange things in your life, then you have to make a decision for God to deliver you.

Remember those Israelites that grumbled at the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob who sent Moses to deliver them from the hands of the Egyptians did not enter the promise Land. So you have to serve God genuinely and He will surely deliver you and make you live in abundance of all things but if you refuse to serve Him, you are already in a strange land, and then you are not sure of your deliverance. You who are already holding fast on God take heed and be steadfast in your service with joyfulness and gladness of heart and you will continue to live in abundance of all things.

He expects you to live a good and comfortable life; so long as you are serving Him with joyfulness and gladness of heart according to the book of Deuteronomy 28:47-48 "Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things; Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee".

If you look at the life of Job, he was a service man. He rendered true services unto God and made sacrifices continuously. Today, you cannot kill Ram, Cow and other animals unto God but your service of sacrifice is what you can render to God that will be acceptable before Him. Psalm 50:5 says, "Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice". Do something for God that will always speak for you whenever you are in danger and God will surely deliver you.

I pray that as you make up your mind on the kind of service you will render unto God, He will empower you to put it into action in Jesus' Name. It does not matter the position you are or what you do, so long as it is not a sin before God; make time out of your busy time for God, give out of the little you have to people who needs help, serve with your gift and talent, support in any way you can to spread the gospel to the people of this world in order to save souls; serve God and he will service you; and you will see yourself living in an atmosphere of miracles in Jesus' Name; then you will know that you are already in possession of the land. Remain Blessed.
