While addressing 2010/2011/2012 graduands of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede in Owerri the Imo state capital south east Nigeria, the minister disclosed that in the drive to actualize the transformation agenda of the Goodluck Jonathan led administration especially in the education sector, attention is given to quality education service delivery in all the federal and state polytechnic which will develop skills and competencies that will enable young graduates function effectively as business owners rather than job seekers. Mrs Ruqayyat noted that since polytechnics play pivotal role in the development of technical and vocational education and training in the country, the federal government has embarked on the upgrading laboratories and training of staff in all 51 federal and state polytechnics across the country through a special intervention, with initial cost of N15 billion, with a view to making them offer teaching and learning that are relevant to the national development objectives that will help drive diverse sectors of the economy. She advised the graduands to put into practise what has been learnt in the course of their learning and contribute positively to the development of the nation.
