Job Description:
• Lead and manage the strategic direction of the group
• Establish goals and objective; monitor and steward performance of the group
• Provide supervision, coaching, and mentoring to function and project assigned employees (frequent interface, EADS and ranking, feedback, assist salary/career planning). Administer contractors within area of responsibility (establish work orders, approve invoices, monitor performance)
• Provide supervision / leadership for NPO Functional and Upstream E&R initiatives
• Represents the PM&E SSHE (E&R) functional group, backs up NPO SHES/Quality Manager as needed
• Ensure stewardship and reporting of E&R performance indicators to meet Project and Corporate requirements
• Interface with the PM&E E&R functional group as necessary to support project activities and identify/implement best practices and lessons learned
• Work with SSH&E function in preparing project resource staffing plans for employee and contracted staff
• Work with SSH&E function to support employee development plans and provide guidance to individuals
• Ensure development of EMCAPS E&R deliverables (e.g., Regulatory Compliance Plan, Environmental Management Plan) and obtain functional endorsement
• Coordinate interfaces with Government agencies and external stakeholders on project EIA and permitting issues
• Interface and coordinate activities with in-country E&R group (COMPANY SHE, Venture Relations) as appropriate, clearly establishing roles and responsibilities for project permitting, approval activities, and external interface with regulatory agencies
• Communicate with, and coordinate presentations to, Senior Management on project E&R issues
• Work with Public & Government Affairs on developing project-specific messages for public forums and inquiries, as appropriate, to address, community and stakeholder concerns and issues
• Work with Development Planning (Nigeria) to identify E&R key issues and resources (at or around Gate 1)
• Interface with E&R advisors to ensure E&R requirements are incorporated into project plans and activities
• Provide leadership for E&R issues associated with projects
• Work with Project Management Team on implementing a Management of Change process for E&R -related documents and deliverables
• Lead development of lender requirements (assuming financing is pursued)
• Review contract language and Coordination Procedures to ensure E&R needs are covered
• Coordinate exchange of information to and from project teams necessary to ensure E&R requirements are being met and incorporated into project planning
• Be the point contact for general or project specific E&R queries impacting Nigeria Projects Organization
Job Requirements:
• Senior level position with broad technical and SSH&E skills with working knowledge of project management and operations
• 8+ years broad-based experience preferred, with prior experience in one or more SSH&E-related disciplines
• Proven management and leadership skills
• Knowledge of EMDC strategies and key business drivers
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; persuasive with strong business perspective
• MSc in Environmental SciencesAbility to assess and act on project resource needs
