The Action Congress of Nigeria National Vice-Chairman, South-South, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, on Saturday, gave reasons why the administration of former Governor Lucky Igbinedion, in which he was the Secretary to the State Government failed to perform to the expectations of the people.
Ize-Iyamu, in an address delivered at the Leadership Conference and Achievement Award 2013 organised by the Edo Political Forum, highlighted factors he said hampered the Igbinedion administration.
According to him, the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party that produced Igbinedion, did not make matters easier for the governor.
He listed other challenges to include the rot inflicted on the state by long years of military rule, which he said left the state with huge liabilities.
He said, "I was not the most powerful in government. I was the Chief of Staff and later the Secretary to the State Government and I did not award contracts, nor was I in-charge of any ministry, but people misconstrued my simplifying the office of the COS and SSG to a level that created industrial harmony in the state and goodwill for government to mean that I was very influential.
"The PDP contributed to the poor performance of former Governor Lucky Igbinedion because it had no manifesto, blueprint or plan for governance."
