Christian Aid Nigeria is looking to recruit a Programme Manager to coordinate the implementation of an intervention 'Voice to the People', funded by the UK Government, which will deliver strong results in the area of community-driven accountability in Anambra State, and to shape and oversee Christian Aid's entire governance programme including its new tax justice work. The role provides an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic professional who will support Christian Aid partnerships and programmes in its governance work.

The post holder will lead and manage the partner portfolio and projects within the country programme. He/she will manage a team and provide technical input and will ensure effective management and development of the programme and appropriate support for partners. He/she will ensure a strong link exists between our programme and advocacy. He/she will engage with effective fundraising, liaison and networking as appropriate.

The ideal candidate must possess a degree in a development-related field, preferably in political science or with a governance/public policy focus. He/she must have at least five years' experience of working in the development field with not less than two years in a managerial position, including management of a back donor funded project.

Essential criteria

•   Significant experience of implementing governance related projects and programmes

•   Experience of programme appraisal, monitoring and evaluation and financial management

•   Significant experience of working with local partner organisations and of programming at community level

•   Knowledge of programme management tools and techniques, including financial management tools and organisational capacity building tools and techniques

•   Experience of proposal development and a successful fundraising track record

•   Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively represent Christian Aid at the national, state and local levels

•   Good knowledge and experience of funding regulations of official donors such as EU, DFID, USAID

Desirable criteria:

•   Master's degree in International Development or equivalent

•   Understanding of the socio-political context in the country or region

•   Experience of managing large and complex budgets and of financial compliance issues

•   Experience of local and international advocacy work

•   Familiarity in working with faith based institutions in Nigeria

•   Interfaith governance and tax justice work experience
