(http://fmi.gov.ng/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Chinedu-Nebo-Minister-of-Power-300x200.jpg) The Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo has reiterated the commitment of the Federal Government to immediately commence work towards the completion of Eighteen (18) National Integrated Power Projects (NIPPs) that were abandoned in the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, North West Nigeria.
The abandoned projects which spread across the four States of Kaduna, Kebbi, Zamfara and Sokoto include: construction of 1x15MVA, 33/11KV injection substation with associated line and 11kv HVDS at Gorin Gora; construction of 1×7.5MVA 33/11 Injection substation with associated 33kv line and 11 KV HVDS at Kagoro; construction of 2x15MVA, 33/11KV line and 11KV HVDS at Narayi Barnawa BU; construction of 1×2.5MVA, 33/11KV injection substation with associated 33KV line and 11KV HVDS at Zambia Crescent Barnawa; construction of 1×7.5MVA, 33/11KV injection substation with associated 33KV line and 11KV HVDS at Kaduna Industrial Anguwan Muazu; construction of 1×7.5MVA 33/11KV injection substation Air Force Base; construction of 1×7.5MVA 33/11KV injection substation at Airport Road/Mother cat; construction of 1x15MVA, 33/11KV injection substation Doka and construction of 1 x15MVA injection substation at Samaru Zaria; all in Kaduna State.
Others are construction of 1×7.5MVA 33/11KV injection substation at NNPC junction; replacement of 1×2.5MVA with 7.5MVA, 33/11KV injection substation at Rinjin Sambo; construction of additional 1.75MVA, 33/11 KV injection substation at Fadama and construction of 1×7.5MVA, 33/11KV injection Sub Station at Dukku in Zamfara, Sokoto and Kebbi States; among others.
The Minister said,he hates the idea of abandoning projects, as it amounts to a waste of efforts and resources already committed, and therefore promised to do everything within his power to provide funds for completion of such projects.
Prof. Nebo further stated that the expectation of people for electricity supply is very high and all hands must be on deck to meet people's expectations.
While welcoming the Minister and his team, the Managing Director/CEO of Kaduna DISCO, Engr. Idris Mohammed spoke on the recent efforts that have led to improved levels of power supply to communities in the four states, and requested for Government's assistance for the completion of abandoned projects.
During the visit, Professor Nebo commissioned the new vending office of Kaduna DISCO, and officially kick-started the use of scratch cards for recharging of electricity meters by customers in the zone.
