A one-time Minister of Information, Chief Edwin Clark, has said nobody's personal ambition is capable of dividing the country in 2015.
Clark said Nigerians should be assured that nothing would divide the country in spite of drums of war emanating from different parts of the country concerning the 2015 presidential election.
The Ijaw leader spoke at his residence in Abuja on Monday when about 15 women from South-West visited him to felicitate with him on his 86th birthday and also ask for support for President Goodluck Jonathan's second term.
He said, "If Lord Lugard, a mere administrative officer, who later became Governor-General, saw the wisdom in uniting North and South, then nobody's personal ambition can divide this country.
"I'm happy that you support my son in 2011 and you have vowed to support him in 2015.
"Nobody, because of his personal ambition, should divide us. We will all remain together. Remember we in Delta and Edo states were part of the South-West before and I know that we would continue to be one."
He said he was happy that the leader of the delegation, Mrs. Bola Doherty, prayed for him to live long, but added that only God could give good health and long life.
Clark, who said he was happy to have married from the South-West, extolled the virtues of the Yoruba, saying they remained the most educated and sophisticated in the country.
He said, "My good daughters from South-West, you know that I married a lady from Egba.
"Today is a happy day in my life. This is a country where everybody loves each other. There is happiness and there is hope. You came uninvited and unsolicited from your states to visit me.
"In your speech, you said the Olubadan is 99 years old, and I'm happy that you prayed for me to also grow older.
"Yoruba people are the most educated and sophisticated. When my friend, Chief Abraham Adesanya died, I said the leadership of the Yoruba would not be decided by wealth.
"Nobody can impose himself on the people there because these people are the most educated and sophisticated in the country."
Doherty, whose speech was punctuated with songs, extolled the qualities of Clark, saying God preserved him to serve as a backbone to Jonathan.
She said members of her group had come to pay homage to the elder statesman and also assured him of their support for the President.
