Job Title: Senior Engineer, Data Centre Mechanical and Electrical

Job Summary: Monitor and control network element capacity utilization in line with industry standard and prepare reports, where applicable, on capacity constraints to ensure relevant units provide possible equipment upgrades
Principal Functions:
• Support network quality assurance through regular monitoring, tracking and reporting of discrepancies in network elements and reporting same to relevant stakeholders
• Keep an updated list and layout of all nodes installed in the data centre with clear indication of details and specifications of near- and far-end connectivity
• Execute all Data Centre Operations activities in compliance with approved changes
• Ensure all installed equipment in data centre is maintained in accordance with outlined maintenance schedules and procedures while keeping a comprehensive maintenance history of all equipment
• Build and maintain effective relationships with switch implementation vendors
• Co-ordinate maintenance activities between vendors and internal stakeholders with regard to planning, scheduling and database management
• Ensure that the organizational quality policy is complied with on all core network O&M and identify areas where the quality policy needs improvement for escalation to the Quality Assurance team
Educational Requirements:
• First degree or equivalent in Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline
• Relevant postgraduate qualification(s) and/ or professional certification(s) will provide an added advantage
Experience,Skills & Competencies: At least four (4) years? directly relevant post-NYSC work experience in mechanical/ electrical (power) systems (diesel generators, rectifiers, UPS, inverters, PDF/ APD panels, GTS/ ATS/ AMF panels, gear switches, HVAC, public mains supply, power and signal cabling, safety and isolation systems, etc), preferably within a large telecoms and/ or technology-driven business environment focussed on power operations and maintenance
