Title: Hamburg's Son Heading To Leverkusen
Post by: Folami David on Jun 11, 2013, 06:51 PM
South Korea striker Son Heung-Min is likely to join Bayer Leverkusen in the coming days, the sporting director at his current club Hamburg, Oliver Kreuzer, said on Tuesday.
.
"We think that the transfer should be completed in the next few days. I'm working on the principle that Son will go to Leverkusen," he told Sky Germany television.
.
Son will turn 21 on July 8 and has already let it be known that he wants to join Leverkusen, whose third-place finish in the Bundesliga last season earned them a Champions League spot.
.
The transfer could net Hamburg €10 million, freeing up Leverkusen to allow their Germany international Andre Schuerrle to join Chelsea.
.
Son arrived at Hamburg at the age of 16 and has rapidly risen through the ranks both at club level and for his country.
.
Last season, he scored 12 goals and provided two assists in 33 matches in the Bundesliga, arousing the interest of a number of English clubs.
.
Hamburg tried in vain to extend his contract until the end of 2014.

This two clubs can do better than they are doing right now in football competitions. They need to step up their game.
