Brave Warriors interim coach Ricardo Mannetti is confident the team will come right on Wednesday night against Nigeria at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
.
Mannetti, who took over as interim head coach Sunday night, following the resignation of Roger Palmgren, yesterday held his first training session with the players and reckons the mood in the camp is positive as players gears up to face the African champions Nigeria on Wednesday at 20h00.
.
"The situation remains the same. We are playing Nigeria and the players are aware of that. I played for this team before and I know what is at stake and have spoken to the players as well. First ofall, it is pride you play for, secondly you play for the national team jersey, your family and thenation and that will be at the forefront of their thoughts.
.
"Coaches come and go but the national team remains and the players are committed to running out there (on Wednesday night) and perform to the best of their abilities" says Mannetti.
.
He calls on the nation to remain positive and rally behind the team.
.
"We need the support, all of it from the nation as we go into this crucial game. The only thing that has changed is Roger (Palmgren) leaving, but the situation remains, we have to win this game and for that we need all the support we can get".
.
Mannetti emphasises that he is ready for the Wednesday night game against Nigeria and is sticking to the game plan.
.
"We have been working with these players for about two weeks now and there is no need to introduce any new ideas that can confuse players, we are sticking to our plan to get victory against Nigeria, it will be great for all of us".
.
Mannetti also reveals that Oliver Risser who joined the team on Saturday is a big doubt for the Nigeria clash as he sustained a knee injury yesterday morning during practice, while Manfred Starke is being assessed by the doctors to determine the severity of his flu.
.
Last Wednesday, the Brave Warriors played to a goalless draw against Malawi and remains third in their CAF Group F in qualification for the World biggest sporting showpiece in Brazil in 2014 on four points, with Nigeria leading the group on eight points. Malawi is second on six points and Kenya at the bottom on two points.
Namibia as a country cannot really stand Nigeria in anything in football. There is no cause for alarm for Nigeria.
