A coalition of twenty pro-democracy and Civil Society Organisations (CSO), including Transparency in Nigeria, Center for Policy Advocacy and Leadership Development (CPALD), Save Nigeria Group, Electoral Reform Project Initiative among others has berated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the party's recent suspension of Sokoto state governor, Aliyu Wamakko.
The group said the allegation of not picking the PDP Chairman's phone calls, as raised by the party's National Working Committee (NWC) against the Governor was baseless.
Speaking at a joint press conference led by Executive Director of CPALD, Comrade Joe Mesele, Emeka Nwana of Electoral Reform Project Initiative, Shaibu Abib of Save Nigeria Group, in Abuja, the coalition said it was saddened by the rising wave of pull-down syndrome in the polity, describing it as "unfortunate and callous" since after the election of Nigerian Governors Forum where Rotimi Ameachi emerged victorious.
The coalition therefore called on the leadership of the party to as, a matter of urgency, rescind the suspension because "Wamakko is an asset that should not be toyed with."
"We have found out that the allegation making the rounds over the suspension of the Gov. Wamakko is meant to ridicule him and cow him.
"This is most unfortunate and wicked and it should be condemned in all its entirety.
"The Governor has laboured so much to ensure victory for the party at all levels since and has also demonstrated it in Sokoto by catering for the masses, hence such an allegation cannot sail," the coalition said.
The coalition however urged the governor not to be distracted by the antics of desperate politicians, noting that he should concentrate on consolidating on democracy dividends for the people of Sokoto state and Nigeria at large.

They really need to pull themeselves together and resolve whatever issue they might be facing right now in that political party.
