The speaker stated this recently in Uyo when he hosted former speakers of the State Assembly who were on a courtesy visit to his office. He opined that it would be unjust not to ensure that a welfare package was sustained for the former speakers as they had done their best in their times, to see to the passage of good laws for the citizenry. He therefore, assured that the House would liaise with the executive arm of government to institute an enhanced welfare package for them.
While speaking earlier, the Chairman, former speakers forum, Engr. Ignatus Edet commended the speaker and members for their performance and constitutional functions to the people of the State and their gesture to the forum of former speakers; calling on the speaker not to relent in his effort at looking into the welfare of former speakers and members of the congress of former legislators.
