Title: Protection Advisor

Position Summary:
The Protection Advisor will play a key role in ensuring the activities under the proposed Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) Umbrella Grants Mechanism project reflect best practices in the area of Protection.
Responsibilities will include:
• Design and administer trainings around child protection to program officers, partners, and sub-grantees.
• Oversee sub-grantee activities to ensure they are compliant with protection standards. Advise sub-grantees on improving the protection aspects of their programs.
• Liaise with relevant public services to strengthen coordination and referrals.
• Provide assistance to program officer and sub-grantee when difficult child protection cases arise.
• Strengthen the program's linkages between protection and other OVC services.
• Remain up-to-date with latest methodologies, best practices, and donor requirements around Protection.
• Support Project Monitoring and Evaluation around protection.
• Contribute to regular implementation reports.
• Other duties as assigned by the Chief of Party or Technical Team Lead.
Qualifications:
• Creative thinker, energetic team player.
• Ability to work in partnership with team members, partner agencies and community members.
• Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
• Strong knowledge of laws governing child rights and protection in Nigeria.
• Strong knowledge of National Guidelines on Orphans and Vulnerable Children.
• Strong computer (word processing) literacy.
• Fluency in English and at least one other language of Nigeria.
• Willingness to travel extensively in Nigeria.
