To this end, the Minister assured the visiting Chartered Institute of Stock Brokers led by Mr. Ariyo Olushekun of support for the body's Annual General Meeting (AGM) which has promised to focus on energy, scheduled for July, 2nd in Abuja.
The Minister while acknowledging the positive role of the Institute said that the power sector now requires the support hitherto enjoyed by the Banking and Telecommunications sector that gave them the muscle to drive the economy.
The Minister also counseled the Institute to engage in aggressive sensitization programme that would enable workers to have informed knowledge about the benefits of investing in the capital market.
While responding, the Institute's President, Ariyo Olushekun said that the recent sales of unbundled companies to successful bidders has shown to be a policy in the right direction, as those companies are already showing signs of breakthrough.
As professionals, he said, the Institute is aware of the enormous resources expended by companies operating in Nigeria on power adding that the resources can be channeled into growth of these companies.
As a corporate body, the Institute is challenged to focus on power at its next AGM, where the Minister will have the opportunity to lay bare to Nigerians his agenda for the sector.
