Last month, the management of the Nasarawa State University led by Vice chancellor; Professor Shamsudeen Amali were suspended in the wake of a bloody clash between students and security agencies, which led to the death of some students. The state government and the People's Democratic Party-dominated House of Assembly have disagreed over the suspension of the management of the Nasarawa State University. The occasion afforded the governor an opportunity to explain the rationale behind the suspension. Speaking at the foundation laying ceremony for the Federal University, Lafia, the Governor explained that a committee set up to look at the issues in the university has submitted its report and government is studying it  before taking any action. This large expanse of land-measuring about Two Hundred and Six hectares   has been provided by the Government of Nasarawa State as her contribution to the newly approved Federal University, Lafia. The State Governor, Alhaji Tanko Al-makura described the project as ground breaking and historic for the state. Governor Al-Makura, who is a visitor to the University hopes that the recommendations of the panel of inquiry will restore the pride of the institution and clean up the backlog of problems.
