Faction of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) led by Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang, has called for a crucial meeting of all governors.
This comes even as a chieftain of the PDP, Tonye Princewill, has described the outcome of the NGF election as good for President Goodluck Jonathan.
Governor Jang is convening an emergency meeting of all the state governors tomorrow to discuss the fallout of the Federal Allocation Account Meeting where agreement could not be reached.
A statement issued by Director of Press Affairs to Governor Jang, Mr. James Mannok, stated that "in view of the impasse arising from the Federal Allocation Account Committee Meeting, an emergency meeting of the Nigerian Governors' Forum has been convened."
It stated that after the meeting, which is expected to hold at the NGF Secretariat, No. 2, Nana Close, Off Nile Street, Maitama, Abuja, by 6 pm, the 36 governors would be expected to meet the President on the same issue the same day at 9pm.
Governor Jang, who had earlier called on all Nigerians, especially the governors to put the incident of his election behind them, urged the governors to attend promptly.
Meanwhile, contrary to claims in certain quarters that the defeat of Jang, believed to be the anointed candidate of the PDP and the Presidency, was indicative of loss of grip on the strategic forum, Princewill declared that President Jonathan and not the governors, would be the ultimate beneficiary of the impasse trailing the outcome of the NGF election.
The PDP chieftain from Rivers said the betrayal that played out at the controversial election would enable President Jonathan identify his friends among the governors and those that would ditch him as he prepares for the 2015 challenge.
The PDP stalwart, who is also a member of the Peoples' Democratic Movement, however, revealed that the once vibrant forum that played a significant role in the formation of PDP has been involved in trouble-shooting initiative to solve the crisis threatening the PDP.
He specifically mentioned the roles of Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih, and former Vice-President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to PDP founding fathers to intervene in the crises.
