Job Title: Head, Budget and Financial Planning

Job Summary:
• Monitor and control the organization?s budget
• Plan and execute a variety of complex, large-scale financial analyses including extracting and validating complex financial information in order to prepare financial budgets and forecasts
• Provide decision-support analyses and reporting based on agreed timelines to aid management in financial decision-making
Principal Functions:
• Pull together forecasts (quarterly or as needed), annual budget and 5-Year Plan for relevant functions (5YP to include strategic initiatives and marketing objectives)
• Perform detailed and accurate analyses including:
• Review ERP data for accuracy and consistency as part of the month-end process and perform appropriate and timely accounting adjustments/ journals in addition to flagging or, where appropriate, correcting anomalies
• Submit month-end commentary by stipulated deadline
• Analyze product profitability as required
• Carry out variance analyses ? including operating expenses and Cost Centre reviews
• Carry out ad hoc analyses for CxOs to further enhance understanding of the numbers
• Explain budget variances by major cost items
• Perform reporting functions including:
• Headcount reporting (link with HR and track HC movements across functions)
• Compile Cost Centre variance reports, implement necessary transfers, and liaise with Cost Centre Managers as necessary
• Perform relevant data extraction activities as required
• Prepare, calculate, evaluate, validate and review Business Cases from a financial perspective (Capex and Opex projects)
• Liaise with functional Directors and Heads to understand the business?s/ function?s performance
• Identify and communicate process problems. Propose and support implementation of ideas for improvement aimed at narrowing performance gaps, increasing efficiencies, and strengthening integrity of controls
Educational Requirements:
• First degree in a relevant discipline
• An MBA or relevant postgraduate/ professional certification (e.g CIMA, CFA, ACCA, ICAN, etc) will provide an added advantage
Experience, Skills & Competencies: Between eight (8) and twelve (12) years? directly relevant post-NYSC work experience, including at least most recent three (3) years at management level
