Three-time Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, Dolphins held out to beat Bayelsa United 2-0 in a dramatic game decided over two days at the Port Harcourt Liberation stadium.
.
The game which was originally scheduled to hold on Saturday was called off in the 81st minute because of a water-logged pitch with Dolphins leading 2-0 at the time.
.
The game continued on Sunday at the same venue with the NPFL directing that only 15 minutes plus added time be played.
.
No goals were scored in the underwhelming contest as Dolphins put in a workman-like performance to hold on for maximum points.
.
Afterwards, United trainer, Ladan Bosso expressed surprise that the game was not replayed entirely on a clean slate.
.
"I was surprised that we were asked to play just 15 minutes with Dolphins leading 2-0. Ordinarily, the game should have been replayed entirely but we decided to go along with the decision as we don't want to be viewed as a troublesome club," a philosophical Bosso told supersport.com after the game.
.
The Dolphins Manager, Stanley Eguma was more interested in discussing issues on the pitch as he praised his wards "for a good display".
.
"It was a good display from my boys and they deserve the win. We must keep performing at this level and keep getting more points," he said.
Dolphins is a very good Nigerian football club. I tip them to go all the way in the Nigeria Premier League.
