Meanwhile Cross River State Commissioner of Sports, Patrick Ugbe revealed that when athletes from different parts of the world return home to compete in the 2014 AFN/CRS All Nigeria Athletics Championship, they will be running on a new track.
He stated that this development became necessary because of the hosting rights awarded to the state as hosts of the next edition of the National Sports Festival. He said that the present track would be removed and a new one laid by January 2014 while the 2014 AFN/CRS All Nigeria Athletics Championship will be used to test-run the new track.
