Enugu State Capital Development Authority on Wednesday pulled down the fence of a property belonging to the Anambra State governor in the Second Republic, the late Christian Onoh.
Dr. Josef Onoh, son of the former governor took over the property, located at the GRA, Enugu, after the death of his father in 2009.
Chairman and Commissioner for ECTDA, Ikechukwu Ugwuegede, who spoke to our correspondent, said the building was pulled down because the fence and security house rested on public road.
He added that it obstructed the "liberty of other residents" living behind the structure.
But Onoh faulted the claims by Ugwuegede, insisting that the demolished property met all due process.
He alleged that the commissioner was propelled by personal grudges to demolish the property.
Onoh presented documents authenticating the design, claiming that his refusal to sell some plots of land within the area to the ECTDA boss prompted the authority's action.
He also provided cheques of previous personal transactions between him and Ugwuegede.
He said, "What the commissioner did on my property was an act of abuse of office and blackmail."
He, therefore, demanded the immediate sacking of the commissioner by Governor Sullivan Chime.
Ugwuegede said the ECTDA was an enforcement agency that executed the order of state Ministry of Lands, which he said initially certified Onoh's property but later withdrew the certification.
