Julius Atete, proprietor of amateur side, Julius Atete FC, believes his wards can continue their fairy tale in the 2013 Federation Cup.

The Warri-based amateur side are in the Round of 32 following their famous 3-1 victory over three-time Cup champions, Bendel Insurance in the Round of 62.

David Onovo's brace and Abudu Oyiko's goal were enough to compound the misery of the former champions, now stuck in the lower division.

Struggling top flight side, Sharks, will be the next hurdle for the amateur side as the Round of 32 takes centre stage on Wednesday, July 17, across the nation.

"We're ready for the big teams in the land," Atete said.

The amateur side stretched top flight campaigners, Warri Wolves, in the final of the 2013 Delta State Federation Cup, but eventually lost their first ever final to a late penalty.

"Victory over Bendel Insurance has prepared us for any opposition. Don't forget that we gave Warri Wolves a tough time during the state Cup final.

"We have a bunch of youngsters who are ready to make Cup history," Atete said.

Victory over Sharks will see Atete equal the records of FC Bisalo and Ovwian United, two amateur sides from Delta State, that reached the Round of 16 in the defunct Coca-Cola FA Cup.

Sharks could be favourites, but never rule out the possibility of an upset, which remains the tradition of the Cup competition.
